Project Description
SharePoint Link Checker can be used by administrators to schedule scans of site collections and report on broken links that are found in publishing content, link fields, rich text fields, summary link fields/web parts and content editor web parts.

This project was originally released by Readify and written by Brian Farnhill. The project was created with WSPBuilder.

Once the solution is deployed (using the batch file included in the download) you can activate and use this feature by doing the following:

* Activate the site collection feature

* On the application management page under SharePoint Site Management, use the "scan for broken links" link

2.gif

* Here you can schedule an immediate scan, as well as view reports of completed scans

You can tell if a scan is in progress by browsing to the "Timer job status" page on the operations page in Central admin and look for the "Link Checker" timer job.

Plans for future releases include:
* Proper scheduling for one off and recurring scans
* Emailing reports to administrators when scans are completed
* Report viewer integrated into central admin to display reports in a user friendly way instead of in an XML file
